PAPER MACHE BOWL
I was so excited when my teacher announced that we would have this as our assignment. I chose the soap carving because I thought it was very fun and satisfying to do, and it was. But I wasn't really satisfied with my output so I made the PAPER MACHE BOWL instead. I had a lot of fun making the Paper Mache Bowl. It was pretty easy too.
In this first video clip, you'll see me cutting magazine pages into strips. You can also use a newspaper.
BE CAREFUL IN USING THE SCISSORS!
The second clip is me making the paper mache paste. It is very easy to make and you only need 2 ingredients, flour, and water. All I did is pour 1 cup of flour into a bowl and add 1 cup of water. Then I Stirred/mixed until it had a silky consistency.
In the third video clip, you'll see me making the paper mache bowl. You will need your magazine/newspaper strips, paper mache paste, a plastic bag, and a bowl. Here's the steps on how I did it:
- I covered the bowl with the plastic bag.
- I dipped a strip of magazine in the paper mache paste.
- I removed the excess by sliding my fingers from the top to the bottom of the strip.
- I then lay the strip into the bowl covered with plastic bag. Repeat.
- When I was done with putting the strips to the bowl, I the let it dry overnight.
The fourth video clip is me removing and painting my paper mache bowl. Removing the paper mache bowl from the bowl was so satisfying but I was also kind of scared and nervous, because I was thinking what if it would be a fail. When I finally removed it I felt relieved and happy, cause it wasn't a fail. I painted my paper mache violet and pink. Violet in the inside and Pink on the outside.
My output is not that pretty but I'm very proud of it. Here is my final output,
